hi there,
I'm using MR displacement for the first time and I've run into a couple of issues, it would be great if I can get some help. My current settings are: SubD Approx Approx Method: Spatial Max SubD's: 5 Length: .2 I did a test to use a displacement map for bricks and the row where the shadow (raytracing) edges fall on the bricks, the horizontal lines of the mortar appear a bit skewed. http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...l/DispTest.jpg Also, when I try and increase the the max subdivisions I see some weird clipping on the geometry. I disconnected the displacement node and just did a render of the color map with the SubD Approx and this is what I got: http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...NoDispTest.jpg Thanks much! |

If you are getting clipping, did you check your render report to see if there are warnings about the max displace setting?
By subd approx, are you saying you applied a subd approx to a poly? That creates a ccmesh Or that you are creating a subd primitive to begin with? Are you using view units? Ie, in that case 0.2 pixels is extremely small.
