Will have one for you very soon. Hopefully early next month. A vehicle tour we are working on for a client. Was a mixture of techniques and renderers. But the bulk was with mental ray. We used unified sampling for the background architecture but regular sampling for the car. It is our first real animated piece so was a bit of a learning experience. The FG shooter script was the most important script for us. Made FG flickering a non issue.
Will post it as soon as we can.
Best,
Richard

Hi all,
So this is not to the level of The Mill and Luma that David posted but this is our first biggish animated piece.
http://www.toyota.com/landcruiser/vehicle-tour.html
Some info about the piece.
The environment is rendered in mental ray with Unified Sampling and physical sun & sky. Used the FG shooter script.
The car exterior of car was rendered with a different renderer (VRED) by our guys in Stuttgart studio.
The interior (starting from when the boot (trunk) opens) was rendered with MR (3.9.1) again utilising the FG shooter script. We used regular adaptive sampling as had issues with unified sampling and edges with all the different objects.
It was our first proper animated piece so there are lots of things we learnt and can improve on for next time.
Cheers,
Richard
I like! Interiors usually take a long time too. And the art direction is usually for some impossible lighting scheme.![]()

Well this the reel I graduated on at Full Sail.
Hope you enjoy it.
This was done with Adaptive, with FG map took in average, 15 minutes / frame, except the second asset. that took for ever.
props to the Final Department![]()
Hi,
here is a short movie for which we used mray (area lights + FG) for the girl puppet. This short was a combination of puppetry and cgi (the girl character + real shooted eyes tracked in 2d later in After Effects). Also the nurse part in the end is rendered in mray using same lighting techniques.
Credits are listed below the movie on Vimeo site, I was the lead cgartist doing modeling, shading and lighting the whole short.
