    Default Maya 2011 Phenomenon problem

Im using the 30 day trial to get to know the package before we go ahead and buy. Ive setup a few simple shaders after following some on line tutorials and I have had success in getting the shaders working in Maya. The problem I have is that when I expose parameters in the Phenomenon and export that to Maya, it looks like every parameter is exposed to the user, but my renamed parameters are no where to be seen?

Am i missing some vital step ?

    Thanks for any help...

    Hi Andy,

I couldn't verify that. Some things are going on in the exported code that I explain here:

Some of the variables that you see there are not being used (e.g __differential, __object_label, __clip_plane). However, The variables that I renamed show up with their respective names.

Please note that light shader parameters will also appear in the exported shader, so even though they are not part of the Phenomenon, their parameters will appear in the Maya GUI. The same applies to the environment shader (if you are using one)

Parameters of nodes that are inside the Phenomenon and which are not exposed should remain hidden, as expected.

    Best Regards,
    Ruediger

I see what is happening now, Maya is displaying the Internal Parameter name (and also adding its own prefixes to the parameter) not the name shown in the Mill parameter editor which is what confused me.

    Thanks for the reply!

    Andy
