our pipeline uses mental ray's subdivDisplaySmoothness to smooth our geo at render time however shave fur does not appear to be able to read the subdivDisplaySmoothness on our geo and is rendering blocky (unsmoothed) fur.
for example, if I make a pCube and set subdivDisplaySmoothness -smoothness 3; the cube will render as a sphere in mental ray.
if I put shave fur on the previously mentioned pCube with smoothness set to 3, the cube will render as a sphere but the fur will render with the unsmoothed pCube shape (a square) instead of the smoothed shape in mental ray.
i'm trying to figure out how to get the shave fur render to match the subdivDisplaySmoothness settings on the geo. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
thanks!
