Cool How will IRay work on Nvidia GTX 590

I am going to purchase some new GPU's for use with Iray and I was just curious how IRay will handle dual GPU units on a single board like the new Nvidia gtx 590. My main concern is how it will handle the memory. This card has a total of 3GB of memory but because its a dual GPU card is IRay going to treat it basically like two seperate 1.5GB cards or like one 3GB card? My main concern is that 1.5GB might be to small for some of my scenes but I figured that even though the card is all on the same PCB it is still going to treat it like two 1.5GB drives and not allow me to load larger scenes. Any further verification on this would be appreciated. THanks.

I'm gonna take a stab and say this depends on the the card itself and how it uses the 3GB and not iRay. In which case Nvidia might be able to tell you if the memory is unified or not.

Personally I'd like to know too.

AFAIK it is gonna be a 1,5gb of memory per chip... it will not be unified, so maximal scene data size will be limited to 1,5gb. If i was you, i would invest into this:

It is a lot faster than Tesla c2050, cheaper, and full load temperatures are nearly the same.

Correct - the iray scene must fit within the 1.5GB that are on each GPU on the GTX 590.

Tests here show the GTX 590 to be about 50% faster for iray than the GTX 580.
Please note that his is a high performance gaming card that relies on the machine to dissipate the heat (think liquid cooling) as the heat is discharged into the chasis rather than out the back (as with the professional cards).

We also suggest that you dissable quad-SLI if you are using two GTX 580's, as there are currently challanges with that and GPGPU (SLI never helps iray perfomance any way).
