    Sorry for misleading idea in the earlier post, but I am afraid the "red stop button" recipe will not work with image pipe.

    In mental ray we use two different protocols for image "live view".
    The "stop" command works with the new, bi-directional protocol only.
    Image pipe mode is based on the old, "one way", push only protocol, which make sending any commands, including stop, not possible.

    No, at least not directly. The pipe redirect is one-way on the system/shell level.

    So a display program written to handle the bi-directional protocol? If we did this as a community, I know several user devs who might want to chip in.

    Right here soon. I'll start a separate subforum for a private group of dev users, at first accessible to those interested, and technically oriented test users. When ready, I'll announce in public thread asking for a contributors to join.
