I have documented what I think is a bug. Someone test with a new version of MRSA please.

Three assemblies (torus, cone, sphere) with X translate set to -25cm,0cm,25cm respectively.
Unified sampling returns expected result.
Bounding Box Update set to “None”, however all modes of Bounding Box Update made no difference.

Also, rotation of assembly off orgin returns an unexpected result.

Mental Ray Standalone ver. 3.9.1.39, Maya 2012, MRSA Python Script ver. .9

It appears it's taking whatever value for the offset and doubling it. Rotation is another story.

Also, if you test... Make sure you set your assembly directory with a flag in the render command, or by specifying the assembly directory in the registry (rayrc file)

After much debate on this issue :) People will be happy to know that this has been fixed in iray 2.1!

Edit: Its still broke to my knowledge. Autodesk's Mental Ray Standalone deployment was built with the wrong CUDA libraries...the resulting error at render time was turning off Iray and defaulting to a standard render.

CUDA libraries for MRSA 2013 should be ver. 4 ... NOT ver. 3
