hello,
I test the reality server but i have a problem with shader,
I use the visualize template with a 3dsmax scene. When i see the scene in reality server, the objet dont have shader and the whole scene is pink .I see objects but the have the same material (or no material ...)
and when RS run , i have a massage like this
1.6 IMI io error: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrateur\Mes documents\reality data\applications\disjoncteur\scene\the_scene.mi_m ats.mi, 88: assigned shader "mrArchMaterial|Shader[452129609]" is undefined
I test with the cube.max file but it's the same result
Any suggestion

the cube.max example should work of course. We would like to reproduce this problem. Could you please answer the following questions:
- What RealityServer version are you using?
- What RealityDesigner version are you using?
- What 3DS max version are you using?
- On what OS are you running the above applications?

Hello,
When i see the visualize/scene directory, i only have this 2 files
the_scene.mi
the_scene.mi.mat
but i don't have shaders files (*.msl) It is normal ?
i post the complete RS log.

Hello MDesign,
Our RealityDesigner experts unfortunately haven't had time to debug you uploaded model yet, but they will do this soon.
I had a short look in this log file and it tells definitely that there are no shader files, so something with the export is going wrong.
Do you get any error logs in the RealityDesigner log window? You get this with activating the menu entry 'Show log window'.
And another question: Are use using French special characters withing your 3DS Max model? This would cause problems when exporting also.

yes, sometime I have errors especialy with bitmap, but it's originaly TGA files
No more warning (see log below)
For the specific characters, yes, sometime i use it.
I test with another max file without french characters, no bitmap, but same result

Well,
mea culpa
I dont install RD correctly
Now, it work fine, msl files are generate and the C++ compil is ok too
i have another question.
it is possible tu use targa bitmap in reality server because i have in max bumpmap with a tga file (with alpha transparency) but when i export the scene RD generate jpeg files
or
it is possible to export TGA files in PNG file (with alpha)

The current RealtityDesigner does not support tga texture mapping - because of this he converts them to jpg format strictly. For the future we plan to turn this extension mapping more flexible, but at the moment there is no other way to go.
Except this one: what about using png textures in the texture shaders from beginning? They would be exported with a correct alpha channel - even with the current RealityDesigner version ...
