I'm fairly new to using mental ray and have been doing a no. of tutorials, some saying that I should use the global settings to automatically calculate the energy etc. per light and some saying to use the manual settings.
I'm sure this is a stupid question but could someone tell me what units the Energy in the manual settings on the -mental ray indirect illumination rollout is in and how this correlates to the automatic settings?
I tested both methods on a scene and found I had to bump the Energy up to 1250000 to get a similar brightness to using the global settings. The scene I was testing had been created in mm. I then created a similar scene using meters as the units and found that I only needed to set the energy to 1 to get a similar level of brightness.
Thanks
