View Full Version : Crash in car paint shader

Hi,

I have a crash rendering a .mi file with mental ray standalone 3.6.3.1.
The link to the file is :

The crash comes from the “Box03_inst” that has the car paint phenomenon applied.
Also, if you remove this object from the scene, it works fine.
The settings on the car paint shader are default settings.

Can anyone see what’s wrong ?

It's the mia_material_x, with multiple outputs ON while you're NOT using those outputs, together with Paint library that crashes mentalray. It's a bug. Turn multiple outputs to OFF (or just use mia_mat where possible). Crashes will go away.

Let me know if you find other way to crash mia_mat_x + paint library.

By the way, I'm thinking about constructing more car paint Phen, with multiple glossy paths, and using the mia_material as a more modern glossy.
In the meantime, I have a double glossy car paint Phen I'll try to post up soon.

The point was to add a secondary gloss for the orange peel of the clear coat.
