deciphering warning

I'm trying to figure out what the following warning means:

MI 0.0 warn 122001: standard startup file ray3rc not found

mental ray cannot find the .rayrc file called .ray3rc

mental ray searches through several paths and a couple of different names for the file. If it cannot find one, it gives a warning.

If you use something like -v 6, you can watch all the paths and names that mental ray uses to look for the file.

Hi everyone, I just registered here. I have been using Mental Ray for a while from within 3DS max. I recently bought the "Rendering With Mental Ray" Handbook with the CD included to understand the program better. I tried to start the demo mental ray from the CD but I got the same error mentioned by cspears:
[MI 0.0 warn 122001: standard startup file ray3rc not found]
I looked for the ray3rc file on the CD and cannot find it, nor any rayrc file.
What am I doing wrong? Please help!
